Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

Since my move from a small town to the great city of San Diego, the only “coffee shop” I ever went to was the mega-chain, Starbucks. Now, I have lived in beautiful San Diego for two years and since then, I have discovered so many unique, modern, and exceptional coffee shops, especially in the 92101. On that note, I have compiled a list of the ten noteworthy coffee shops found in and around Downtown San Diego that one must visit and try in no particular order. Check it out below!

The WestBean Coffee Roasters

Location: 240 Broadway San Diego, CA 92101

With a modern, rustic and industrial vibe, and it’s unique cold-brew creations, like the Kryptonite and the Orange cold-brew. West Bean does more than a regular cup of Joe. Here, you can purchase whole beans and it’s own cold brew both in bottles and on tap. The classic cold-brew can also be served on nitro which makes this place even more unique.

Copa Vida

Location: 905 J St. San Diego, CA 92101

Located in East Village, this craft coffee company has floor to ceiling windows, allowing loads of natural light or the chance to watch the rain with a hot cup of it’s great coffee. Copa Vida’s slogan is “Go, Enjoy, Experience”. It’s cafe is meant for all. The “go” concept is for those who are in a hurry and they can avoid the coffee line and head to its self-drip coffee station. “Enjoy” is for those to enjoy the company of others: whether friends, family or co-workers, Copa Vida wants you to enjoy not only coffee but a variety of food and other drinks as well. “Experience”  is for those who want to learn more about coffee and teas as they offer a series of different classes, educational talks, and much more.

What makes James Coffee Co. so unique is that it is located inside an industrial warehouse setting in the middle of a barbershop, bicycle shop, and an antique shop. With a simple menu and its open air, stone floors and it’s great choice of background music, this coffee joint is ideal for relaxing and hanging out with friends.

Coffee & Tea Collective

Location: 631 Ninth Ave. San Diego, CA 92101

Coffee & Tea Collective is located in the heart of East Village and has the ultimate chill vibe. With an open atmosphere, friendly staff, and top grade coffee, its no surprise so many of its customers are regulars. Aside from its great coffee, they serve one of the best avocado toasts that I have had in San Diego.
