Buy Of The Week – Alta – Almost 1,000 Sq Ft of Outdoor Space

Alta is located in Downtown San Diego’s East Village and borders the Gaslamp Quarters. The community is extremely central and just steps from everything both neighborhoods offer. The building features a nice lap pool, spa, fitness facility, and a community room with billiards. The sleek modern design extends throughout all of the common spaces.

What makes this property great?

The terrace is what really makes this unit special. With about 900 square feet of outdoor space, there is plenty of room for outdoor living/dining. The terrace becomes an extension of your living and entertaining space. The residence has a nice southeast orientation, which is great for natural light. There are also great views of the city, Coronado Bridge, the San Diego Bay and a peek of Petco Park.

The floorplan has a nice split bedroom layout and a very open living space. The kitchen is great for entertaining and features an enormous island. The bathrooms and kitchen have a modern European design that is consistent with the building’s style. Lastly, the building has one of the most affordable HOA dues considering the building has a pool. Overall, I think this is a good buy, especially if outdoor space is something you are looking for!

The one thing I would caution any potential buyers on is the uncertain future of the views from this residence. It seems the Ritz Carlton project continues to be delayed, but that could change in the future. There is also a parking lot directly to the south on the same block as Alta that had plans for a hotel. The rumor was that project became tied up in a lawsuit, but things could eventually change. Given everything going on with COVID-19 and its effects on the hospitality industry, both of those projects may be delayed for some time, or maybe even indefinitely.
