Cowboy Star

Located on 640 10thAve in East Village, Cowboy Star features delicious steaks butchered in house. When you walk in you get a western vibe unlike anywhere downtown. It is a great place for special occasions and or just out for a great meal. They have delicious craft cocktails and a wide variety of wines to choose from. One of my favorite things to start off with is the Signature Steak Tartare then follow it up with the 8 OZ. Wagyu Skirt Steak. The Wagyu skirt steak has an amazing flavor and intense marbling. T0 end the meal the chocolate chip bread pudding is one of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend making reservations on the weekend.

barleymash

Rated the #2 sports bar in the country by Sports Illustrated located in the Gaslamp district. barleymash is a great spot to go out with friends, clients, or significant others to enjoy major sporting events or just to enjoy the amazing food created by Executive Chef Kevin Templeton. There is event an underground private event space which is open Tuesday through Saturday with live music and DJs. With their extensive bourbon, draft and cocktail lists you are sure to find something you enjoy. The lobster mac & cheese with white truffle oil and red chili & garlic braised short ribs are excellent. For major sporting events, I recommend getting there early to get a seat.

Kettner Exchange

Located in little Italy on Kettner, Kettner Exchange is one of the best trendy restaurants to enjoy many different types of food and creative cocktails. Kettner Exchange features a beautiful dining room with and upstairs patio and bar. It is great for dinner and cocktails and then head to the lounge style rooftop patio. Executive chef Brian Redzikowski is sure to have you leaving the restaurant wanting to come back for more. A few items I highly recommend ordering are the Big-Eye Tuna “Pizza”, Duck meatballs, and the roasted grimaud farms duck.

Basic

Located in East Village on 10thAve, Basic has some of the best pizza downtown. If you are looking for a great spot to hang out with friends to have pizza and beer Basic is the perfect place. Their pizza comes out on sheet trays and is great for sharing. The vibe at night is relaxing but higher energy with the occasional dj in the background on the weekends with a pool table and lounge area. I highly recommend their ‘so meaty pie’ with bacon, pepperoni, sausage, basil, garlic and mozzarella. In addition to their pizza the mixed green salad is delicious with candied walnuts, pears and gorgonzola.
