One thing San Diego is known for, is their selection of revamped and delicious food. A common question that we hear almost everyday (or at least that is what I ask everyday) is, “What and Where should I eat?”

Have no fear! Downtown San Diego is one of the most popular areas where good food is available and it’s industry continues to grow. Take a look at the wonderful new and upcoming restaurants that is just around the corner from your home.

Craft & Commerce

Located in Little Italy between 6th and 7th Avenue,  Craft & Commerce are part of the CH Project (Polite Provisions, Soda & Swine), and has just reopened after a year long remodeling.

The food is delicious, with a variety of options for those who don’t eat a lot (small plates), those who go full out (entrees and of course, dessert), and those who are vegetarians (try the vegetable fettuccine!).

Whether you want to go just for trendy and hip cocktails or for some delicious food, Craft & Commerce comes highly recommended!

RakiRaki Ramen has been a staple to San Diego locals for authentic ramen, sushi burritos, and ramen burgers. Before, many had to go to Convoy in order to get these savory meals. Now, owner and executive chef Junya Watanabe has expanded his business to Little Italy!

A note to add, this location is casual and comfortable! You order at the counter and is great for a quick bite when hanging out in Downtown San Diego.

Herb & Eatery

Located on Kettner Blvd in between Ivy Street and Juniper Street, Herb & Eatery is a new neighborhood cafe  that also has an attached market that sells craft beers, wines, and specialty food items. It is owned by the same owners of Herb and Wood and was designed for a more casual ambiance for breakfast and lunch.

Once you walk in, you will feel like you stepped into an cafe in Europe. Head to the counter to try their fresh baked pastries and breads and a cup of coffee for breakfast or a chef’s special sandwich and a smoothie for lunch!

Harvest by The Patio

Owned by The Patio group with locations in Pacific Beach, Mission Hills, Point Loma, and now in East Village.

Harvest by the Patio is a counter style eatery, where you order from downstairs and can either have your food to-go or eat inside in their upstairs eating area which ranges from a lounge area, a communal table, or the bar. A perfect place for a casual date or a laid-back lunch or dinner with friends!

Lionfish

Pendry San Diego is a new luxury hotel located in the Gaslamp district. Located on 5th avenue, The Lionfish restaurant is currently in the works and has a two level space, where the loft portion is ideal for private events and  an outdoor patio for drinks, appetizers, and street watching after a long day at work.

Expected open date is currently unknown but be on the look out for this great luxury dining experience this season!
