Running has Solidified my Appreciation for Downtown San Diego!
My wife decided she wanted to run Rock n Roll half marathon, so in return I have been volunteered to run one as well. At first, I dreaded training for the run, but now I have come to enjoy it. San Diego is beautiful, whether the run takes me through the city or along the bay, there is so much to see and appreciate.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not enjoy the actual act of running, but when you have beautiful scenery to look at it makes it easier! This route is one of my favorites in Downtown. I start my run from my house, but you could start from Seaport Village. From there, I head around the Embarcadero Marina Park North, then I make my way down and around the Embarcadero Marina Park South. After that I head towards the Hilton Bayfront, over the pedestrian bridge and then towards Petco Park. Once I reach Petco Park, I make my way back northwest along the Martin Luther King Promenade. The downside with this route versus the second path below is the number of street lights. This route has 3 extra street lights along the Promenade, but the view of the ballpark and city are worth it!

This route isn’t just for running. It is a great walk as well! This is perfect for all of the “bay view” people out there. The entire run is along the San Diego Bay. From Seaport Village, I head around the Embarcadero Marina Park North, then along the boardwalk on the bay side of Seaport Village. I continue this path along the bay until I hit Grape and then I turn around and come back on the same path. The only difference is when I hit Harbor Drive, I take that back home. Occasionally, I will combine these routes to make it a 7 mile run. I have included some photos below from the second route! (sorry for the poor quality, as they are from my cellphone)
