This monumental addition to East Village has been underway for over a decade!

San Diego’s Ballpark Village officially started with the groundbreaking on April 17th, 2015. San Diego’s Mayor, Kevin Faulconer, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony and named the project the model for public-private development. Mayor Faulconer stated, “We do great things in this city when we work together.” The agreement between the city and the developer is a commitment to provide 163 affordable housing units and living wage jobs, both during and after construction.

The project will be comprised of a 37 story high rise apartment complex expected to have 446 luxury homes and tower 400 feet high. The community is designed to include a rooftop pool, spa, clubhouse, fire pit and barbecue area for its residents. There will also be an additional 274 residential rental units in multiple six-seven story mid rise buildings. The residential buildings are expected to feature above-street walkways to mimic New York’s High Line Park.

Ballpark Village sits on a 3.9 acre lot bound by Park Boulevard, Imperial and 12th avenues, adjacent to Petco Park. The project will also feature 58,000 square feet of retail space and 267 public parking spaces for Padre’s games and special events. There are also plans for a 12,000 square foot open-air central plaza that will lead directly to the main gates of Petco Park.

The estimated completion date is currently set for 2018 and they are expecting the first apartments will be ready for occupancy in the 3rd quarter of 2017.
