Did you get a chance to watch Super Bowl LII at a top-rated sports bar? If not, you do not have to go too far. Sports Illustrated has rated one of our local sports bars in San Diego as number two in the country to watch the Super Bowl. The name is barleymash and it is located on the corner of 5th and market in the Gaslamp District. This bar is unbelievable, they have 50+ TV’s that are able to be viewed from every seat in the house. Whether you are in the mood for football, basketball, hockey, or even college games, barleymash has it all. They provide a lively atmosphere with amazing vibes. Not to mention, they have garage door style roll up windows that give you the indoor-outdoor feel for your typical sunny day in San Diego.
Kevin Templeton is the Executive chef that prepares all of the delicious meals. His dishes are very unique and use locally sourced ingredients. One of the most popular items on the menu are the San Diego Iron Skillet fries. The dish consists of fries, topped with red chili-braised ribs, pepper jack cheese sauce, sour cream, spicy guacamole, and salsa fresca. Now doesn’t that just make your mouth water? In addition to the delicious food, there is a long list of both local and domestic beers on tap and a whole wall of whiskeys and bourbons to choose from.
But the fun does not stop there. Once the sun goes down, barleymash turns into a nightclub with DJ’s every night starting at 10pm. barleymash also has a bar downstairs called Gingers that hosts live acoustic music during the week and DJ’s on Fridays and Saturdays. It is also great for holding private events or to watch any major sporting event on their big screen TV.
So, if you didn’t get a chance to make it to barleymash for Superbowl LII, there is always next year! But you don’t have to wait until then. Grab some friends and head to barleymash for delicious food and great drinks. The staff and service is one of the best in the Gaslamp district and will guarantee you a great time!
