The Port Commissioners have given their unanimous approval to a term sheet with Topgolf, paving the way for the development of this flagship driving-range venue. With panoramic views of San Diego Bay and the city skyline, it promises to be a spectacular addition to the waterfront.
The estimated project cost stands at an impressive $61 million, showcasing the commitment to delivering an outstanding recreational space. While the minimum annual rent is projected at $1.5 million, the anticipated figures are even more promising, nearing $2 million. If all goes according to plan, construction is anticipated to commence in late 2025, providing an exciting new activity for San Diegans and visitors alike.
The goal is to introduce public recreation and amenities to an area that has been inaccessible for decades. Topgolf is just one piece of this ambitious puzzle, set to occupy 9.5 acres along the waterfront. Topgolf’s proposed 70,700-square-foot facility, with its 102 hitting bays, 4.5-acre outfield, and breathtaking netting system, promises to draw in half a million guests annually. Add to that multiple restaurants, bars, event spaces, and 293 parking spaces, and you have a recipe for success.
